Exercises

Exercise 1

This exercise asks you to fit a 4-class, latent-class model for marijuana use and attitudes using 7 binary indicators of the latent class variable. Then, it asks you to interpret all parameters in the model. For those with more programming experience, it also asks you to plot the item-response probabilities.

Exercise 2

This supplemental exercise for Latent Gold and SAS users goes into a bit more detail about model identification checking in these two software packages. This exercise asks you to check the identification of the baseline LCA with all binary indicators model using different seeds that you provide manually, and then to check the identification automatically using many seeds. Then, it asks you to comment on how well-identified you believe this model to be. For those with more programming experience, it also asks you to plot the frequencies of identified maxima using a bar graph.
